White ash (Fraxinus americana) is a dense, lightweight, and strong wood that is valued for its hardness, elasticity, and shock resistance. It is often used for tool handles, sports equipment, and furniture. White ash is also used in doors, veneer, antique vehicle parts, canoe paddles, snowshoes, boats, posts, and railroad cars. 

Burma teak is a hardwood from Myanmar that is known for its durability, water resistance, and natural resistance to decay, rot, and insect infestations. It has a uniform golden brown color, a coarse, uneven texture, and a straight to slightly wavy grain. It also has a leather-like smell when freshly milled, and sometimes has a white glistening deposit. 

Oak is a hardwood that is strong, dense, and hard, with a close grain and resistance to fungal and insect infestations. Oak has pale yellow brown heartwood with medium coarse grain, tending to be straight and uniform. Exceptions are when quarter sawn, brown/yellow streaked, or pippy/burry. Workable with machine or hand tools depending on grain pattern but very difficult to treat (moisture & acid content). Oak is a renewable resource, but turnover is extremely slow. It can take 150 years for oak to grow and mature before being suitable for construction. Oak is naturally resistant to insect and fungal attack. This is part of the reason Oak trees are so long-lived. Combined with their natural water resistance, Oak wood is less prone to decay and rotting. The resulting timber will be extremely weatherproof and require little or no chemical treatment. 

Meranti wood is a hardwood that is native to Southeast Asia, particularly Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. It has a medium density and hardness, falling between oak and pine on the hardness scale. It has a specific gravity of 0.55 to 0.68, a Janka hardness of 800 lb f, and an average dried weight of 42 lbs/ft 3. Meranti wood has white resin streaks and a coarse texture, which give it a distinctive appearance.

The Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata) is a large evergreen coniferous tree that is native to the Pacific Northwest of North America. It has a pyramidal shape with a broad trunk and dense, fern-like foliage. The tree's leaves are small, scale-like, and dark glossy green above and whitish underneath. The bark is ridged and dark reddish-brown.
